Rachel and Ben’s story began two years ago at a neighborhood beer garden called Sheffield’s. Things could not have possibly gone any better until their third date, when Ben dropped the bomb: He would be moving to China for three months. To make matters harder, what was supposed to be a three month trip ended up turning into a six month trip.
They spent the next four months before Ben left dating and falling in love in Chicago. Fortunately for Rachel, Ben was an awesome date planner; they went to wine tastings, comedy shows, concerts, and, thanks to Ben’s love of good food, to many great restaurants.
Their long distance relationship was made easier by 21st century technology, frequent FaceTime calls, and a week long visit Rachel made to Shanghai. Although spending that time together in a foreign country proved to be an amazing experience, they were both thrilled when Ben returned (and they never had to deal with a spotty FaceTime connection again!)
Rachel had an inkling that Ben would propose on a trip they were going to take to Arizona to visit Ben’s family and see the Grand Canyon. Instead, he surprised Rachel and proposed the day before they left! Now, Rachel and Ben are busy planning away for their wedding and cannot wait to celebrate with their family and friends in April! Though their wedding will take place in Michigan, the couple decided to shoot their engagement session in their hometown, Chicago.
